About this Car:
This car has spent all of its restored life in a Museum and Private Collection and there have been very few miles driven since being Frame-Off Restored.  This particular Chevelle SS 454 LS5 convertible is #2 of 3 Canadian corporate GM Zone Stock/COPO Can-Am cars that were special ordered and built exclusively by Chevrolet as display vehicles charged to the General Motors of Canada Company account for the Canadian-American (Can-Am) races in Edmonton, July 26, 1970. Built exclusively to display and promote to fans and auto enthusiasts and driven only by various racing notables and top company executives attending the races. It has its original matching numbers motor, transmission and rear differential and is finished in a stunning "special order" combination of Classic White with black stripes, black soft top and red buckets seats. This big block Chevelle is decked out with the optional SS Z-15 package with an LS5 454/360hp monster motor. It has 34 factory options including 3-speed HD Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission and Cowl Induction hood. Some other options include strato-bucket seats with optional floor console shift, electric power windows, power steering and front disc brakes plus 3.31 posi-traction, Firestone wide-oval raised white letter tires on Rally road wheels, heavy duty front/rear "firm ride" springs and F-41 racing suspension, instrument gauge package with tachometer and even the factory low windshield washer fluid indicator. Its provenance includes lots of history and documentation and is further supported by a completely documented General Motors of Canada authorized Vintage Vehicle report on GM stationary with production records, dates and information of options with codes and descriptions referencing this particular car and its VIN number and GM Canada Zone Stock listed as placing the corporate office production order. It is also in the LS5 registry. Recent documentation now confirms that fewer LS5 cars were produced than LS6 cars in 1970 and the LS5 Chevelle is actually rarer than the LS6 Chevelle. Of those LS5 cars, only 91 of them were fitted in convertibles. Only 22 had the M-40 automatic transmission and cowl hood. Only 3 were special ordered in this white/red/black configuration.
